Looking at the Areas of Priority identified by United Way of Rutland County, Recovery House meets the following areas: - Physical health care – Serenity House offers a detoxification program which helps to safely detoxify the body from chemicals abused by individual clients. Serenity House also contracts with Doctor Alban Coghlan to provide for the physical health of the clients under our care.
- Mental Health care – Serenity House contracts with Doctor Alban Coghlan to provide mental health services to clients who are in need at Serenity House.
- Substance Abuse – Recovery House programs haves been offering a safe haven for treatment and sober living to alcoholics and drug addicts for over thirty-five years. We also offer our services to pregnant women and to intravenous drug users.
- Crisis help – Grace House and Serenity House are staffed twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. Staff field calls from people all over who are in crisis and in need of services provided by a similar facility or us.
- Domestic Violence – Recovery House programs offer clients help through groups, referrals and counseling around this issue.
- Food/clothing/shelter –Recovery House programs provide clients with shelter, food and clothing. All three buildings have a closet full of donated clothing which clients are welcome to help themselves to. Serenity House has a full time cook who prepares lunch and supper meals as well as assuring there are plenty of items for our continental breakfasts. Grace House clients have food on hand for breakfast and lunch. All programs provide shelter to those in need of the services provided by the respective programs.
- Information and referral – All of Recovery House programs provide information around substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. We also provide referrals to all those who approach us with a need.
- Financial counseling – At Grace House clients receive assistance with many life skills that they may be learning for the first time or relearning now that their actions and thinking are clearer from being sober. The staff helps clients with budgeting and financial matters as needed and also offers referrals to the clients for further assistance.
